Major Expansion, Upgrade of San Juan Data Center

Bigger, better, faster. That best summarizes a recently completed major expansion and upgrade to our data center in San Juan, Puerto Rico. It was the third round of growth since the data center went live in January 2016.

The five-month project included deployment of nVidia Tesla M10 GPU cards and related GPU server hardware. The result: a big increase in the capacity and speed of servers that dynamically render 3D images of apparel and footwear on our customers’ websites.

Just in time to handle the growth of our customers’ customization businesses.

New virtual images are streamed online each time a shopper chooses a product, rotates it, and adds or revises customization options. So bigger + better + faster = significantly enhanced virtual product experiences for shoppers and happier Embodee customers.

And there’s another key benefit of the data center expansion and upgrade: because of energy efficiency improvements baked into the new hardware, our power consumption is unchanged.

Speaking of electricity, we are dreaming of harnessing the abundant sunshine we enjoy in San Juan. Imagine sunrays converted to electricity powering hundreds of megabits per second of streaming data that’s transformed via Embodee’s software into stunning 3D images!

One not-too-distant day, hopefully. Watch this space for updates.
